Today, we have 14 campuses that are enhancing the lives of low-income seniors, youth, and families. We are looking for a Social Emotional Specialist Early Ed/Preschool)
The Social Emotional Specialist/CSEFEL Coach will be an active member of the teaching team and provide resources and assistance concerning social and emotional learning to preschool teaching staff, children, and their families. They will be assigned to different sites as needed in order to support children who exhibit the most challenging of behaviors in modifying their behavior. This support includes, but is not limited to, one-on-one support, group work, classroom and teacher support, and collaborative problem solving with both prevention and intervention models.
Essential Functions/Responsibilities
Social Emotional Support and Intervention:
Participate in coordinated system of providing services, follow-up and documentation among Center Director, mental health consultant/s, Disabilities and Mental Health Manager, Family Services Specialist, Educational Coach and Family Resource Center staff.
Provide support to teachers by using Behavior Skills Training (BST), which include observing, modeling, and coaching/feedback.
Work with children with behavioral challenges and/or disabilities individually or in integrated settings such as the classroom, team meetings, and in cooperation with classroom teachers, extend support to their families through parent education and as needed, consultation.
Provide direct support for children that require behavioral intervention/modification, which include providing and maintaining a record of written classroom observations and interventions.
Attend transition IFSP/IEP's meetings for children with special needs who are transitioning from the Early Head Start option to Head Start and from Head Start to Kindergarten.
Participate in meetings with staff to assist in planning for individualized learning strategies to build relationship, modify the classroom environment, and teach social emotional skills.
Create individualized visual supports to use, model, and share with teachers (e.g., visuals relating to schedules, expectations, rules, emotions, problem-solving strategies, self-regulation).
Collaborate with staff to ensure Child Support Plans are implemented with fidelity.
Assist with documentation gathering and sharing for the referral process
Assist with the supervision of students in and out of the classroom.
Attend classroom team meetings and recommended training programs and conferences.
CSEFEL (Teaching Pyramid) Coaching:
Utilize the Teaching Pyramid Benchmarks of Quality to plan and implement CSEFEL
Coach staff on the use of CSEFEL framework
Assist teaching staff with appropriate curriculum planning, role modeling, and implementation of strategies
Provide teachers and parents with appropriate resources to expand their knowledge in supporting social and emotional well being of children
Conduct observations of teaching staff of their interactions with children to create opportunities for discussion
Participate in the CSEFEL Leadership Team meetings.
Model strategies from the Pyramid Model.
Ensure appropriate inclusion and mental health activities are being carried out in the classrooms.

Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Early Education, Mental Health, or Psychology with commensurate experience and knowledge of special education knowledge; Required
CSEFEL Trained, certification preferred
Experience:
1+ year implementing CSEFEL strategies
3+ years of teaching experience
2+ years of working with young children (0-5) with emotional/behavioral challenges and disabilities such as autistic spectrum disorders and speech and language delays
3+ years community-based experience in a setting working with families and community organizations who have experienced poverty, crisis, trauma, and other adverse events.
Understanding of concepts of child growth and development and developmental behavior characteristics
Expert knowledge of function based intervention planning for developing behavior change strategies that focuses on reducing problem behavior and increasing more appropriate behavior.
Requirements:
Fluent in English/Spanish; preferred

Pay Rate: $38.00 to $40.95 Hourly
